Jean Claude van Itallie’s brilliant ceremony created by the Open Theatre and originally directed by Joseph Chaikin, The Serpent astounded modern audiences when it premiered in 1968 - winning an Obie that year. Theatre like nothing you’ve ever seen, this piece will be the Academy’s first at the Rachel Brown Theatre, 2nd Floor, 211 Bannatyne in the heart of the Exchange District. With Biblical elements, this show will be presented on Thursday, April 9th - just in time for Easter. It stars the class of September ‘09 in their theatre practicum - Kayla Hayden, Chantelle House, Adam Hurtig, Mandi Maxwell, Amanda Nicholls, Jade Ruchkall, Danielle Sunley, Jessica Thompson, and Jeremy Walmsley, and will be directed by Nancy Drake. Tickets are $10 and are available at the Academy (897-2346), or from Academy students. WARNING: religious themes, experimental theatre.
